When the Mazda MX-5 was introduced in 1989, I instantly liked it. It was the first time since the MG’s demise in the early 80s that an affordable roadster sports car was released. What’s more, it was Japanese and was unlikely to drop oil on your driveway or break down on you. It was a shame I couldn’t afford to buy one in 1989. I bought my first Mazda MX-5 in 2007, a 1991 White NA, my weekend roadster. Since then, I have owned four other MX-5s, a 2001 Silver NB, a 2008 Stormy Blue NC with a retractable hardtop, a 2016 Crystal White Pearl Mica ND GT Roadster and my current drive, a 2017 Crystal White Pearl Mica ND GT RF. I would have kept them all if I had a garage big enough. I have enjoyed all aspects of the club, including many social runs and events and participation in the club’s motorsport activities. There is always plenty to do for the roadster enthusiast.
