Our Partnership with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia
The Mazda MX-5 Club of Victoria & Tasmania is built on more than a shared passion for great cars and great roads. We are a community that values friendship, looking after one another and making a positive contribution beyond our Club.
That’s why we are proud to partner with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA). Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian men, with one in seven men expected to receive a diagnosis during their lifetime. As a Club with more than 1,000 members, many of whom are men in the age groups most at risk, this is an issue that touches our community directly.
How we can support PCFA
It’s about raising awareness, encouraging conversations that can sometimes be difficult to have, promoting the importance of early detection, and supporting members and their families who may be impacted by prostate cancer.
Throughout the year, the Club will support a range of PCFA initiatives, including awareness campaigns, fundraising activities and community events such as The Long Drive. We hope these activities not only generate valuable funds for prostate cancer research and support services but also encourage our members to speak with their doctor about prostate health and appropriate PSA testing.
If our partnership encourages even one member to seek advice earlier, have an important conversation with a loved one, or support someone facing a prostate cancer diagnosis, it will have made a meaningful difference.
Together, we can enjoy the roads we love while helping ensure more Australians have the opportunity to do the same.
Robert Downes facilitated an introduction to Linley Watson, the Community Engagement Manager for the Southern Region (Vic + Tas). She’s has provided resources as listed below plus key Fundraising and Promotional Periods that the Club could utilise to build awareness across our membership.
Purpose: Layout PCFA Sub Committee, resources and outline a brief so that we as a group can collaborate execute a program within the Club that both benefits our members as well as the PCFA.
