Christmas run to Parc Fermé

Sunday, 8 December, saw participants for the Eastern Victoria Chapter Christmas run congregate at McDonald’s in Drouin.

There were 21 MX-5s and one Honda S2000 from the Eastern and Central Chapters. After coffee and greeting, we moved off on a run through the rolling hills of Gippsland.
Leaving Drouin we travelled through Buln Buln, Willow Grove, Trafalgar, Thorpdale, Mirboo North and Nerrena to Leongatha – great roads, great scenery, mown grass, multi-colored silage rolls everywhere, tractors mowing grass, others rolling grass up to store away, views of far-off hills and shading trees along the way.

After a quick stop in Woolies at Leongatha for supplies, we were off to John and Kira’s Park Fermé (and personal car showcase) for a picnic and BBQ lunch. It’s a lovely setting just to sit, eat and chew the fat with like-minded people.

We had a couple of hiccups along the way but these added to the fun. Someone left his camera at McDonald’s and had to go back to get it, and three cars lost their way (but, thanks to run notes and Google maps, found their way back to the group).

There were awards given out for best costume and best decorated car:
»» best car went to Nick and Sylvia Oklobdzija and
»» best costume went to Keith and June Teeuw.

Many thanks to John and Kira for organising a great run and for their hospitality at their great venue, Park Fermé.
